MUSICAL THEATER WITH KATY TABB

HALF-DAY: MUSICAL THEATER TAP 12:45-4PM $200
Katy Tabb will be coming to BDC for a week-long intensive with a focus on Musical Theater Jazz and Tap technique and repertory. Students will have classes in technique, repertory, vocal training (with the very talented Danny Kam), conditioning for dance, and musical theater appreciation. There will be an In-Studio Performance Showing at the end of the week.
Katy Tabb is Seattle native dancer and choreographer. Past choreography credits include: Newsies, Singin’ In The Rain, Billy Elliot, and Hello My Baby at Village Theatre as well as the world premiere of Persuasion and upcoming Sweet Land at Taproot Theatre. As a performer, she has worked at the 5th Ave. Theatre, Village Theatre, Musical Theatre West, and 3D Theatricals amongst other notable regional theatres across the US. Katy toured internationally with Vox Dance Theatre and Benita Bike’s Dance Art. A teaching artist, she is on faculty at Westlake Dance Center and teaches master classes throughout the Greater Seattle area and at Cornish College of the Arts and University of Washington. She graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Dance from Chapman University and received additional training from The Ailey School. She loves sharing her passion for dance and storytelling with her students.
Danny Kam holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Western Washington University, with concentrations in Acting and Directing. He also studied Vocal Pedagogy, performed extensively as a soloist with Western’s Music Department, and founded an original concert series, Fresh Hot Songs, which had four sold-out installments (www.youtube.com/freshhotsongs). Professionally, Danny has performed with the 5th Avenue Theatre, ACT, Village Theatre, Seattle Musical Theatre, Mount Baker Theatre, and Contemporary Classics, among others. As a teacher, he focuses on song interpretation, stage presence and emotional honesty, as well as musical phrasing, dynamics, healthy vocal technique, and tone quality.
